Everkin Brand Design | Willow & Blake
Writing (and designing) a brand’s happily-ever-after.
Matt and Lou came to us with a first-of-its-kind idea; a platform transforming your regular iPhone photos into a beautifully illustrated physical (and digital) storybook to read to your children. Memories, told like a modern classic.
Like all good stories, we began with the name. The brief was to evoke the feeling of cosying up to a fire in your pyjamas, reading a book you love to the person you love most.
Everkin
The most magical fairytales end in happily ever after, but the most magical feelings of love and connection to our kinship last far longer with stories that are our own. This is a name reflecting the best of fairytales and of our own family for everlasting bonds.
And then, a narrative.
The beginning of our story...
Matt and Lou came to us with a first-of-its-kind idea; a platform that transforms your regular iPhone photos into a beautifully illustrated physical (and digital) storybook to read to your children. Memories, told like a modern classic.
The challenge
We were tasked with redeveloping the brand identity for an infinite world of stories: from strategy and naming to visual identity, book cover designs, tone of voice and messaging, we needed to reimagine a brand language that could ultimately carry stories of love, grief, learning, family, friendship and everything in between.
And then, a platform. Something that blends the most joyful part of a classic story with the meaningful moments we want our children to remember forever.
Memories made happily ever after.
We built the platform out with supportive key messages based in positive child psychology, because books have an impact, but a child’s own story has a profound shaping of who they are.
A visual language
The logo and symbol were quite literally the spine of the brand, landing somewhere close to home.
A custom rounded wordmark is paired with a fairytale-esque house symbol, a visual shorthand for
the safe, imaginative space Everkin creates for children and their stories.
Soft, curved framing devices take inspiration from the embellished corners of cherished bookmarks.
A palette of grounded, earthy tones creates an inviting atmosphere, evoking a warm, fireside feeling.
Typography adds another layer of magic and craft, balancing character with sophistication.
Hand-drawn scribbles, notes and bookish illustrations bring a human touch to the identity,
reflecting the rawness and authenticity of the stories Everkin tells.
Together, it narrates a beautiful visual language for both adults and children alike.
A new chapter
In the end, we handed over a new name, key messages, visual identity, still and motion illustration, book cover mockups, a beautiful new website, and poster applications.
They handed us a reassuring reply; “We’re blown away by this. You’ve truly heard us.”
